Lonelyness

We were walking through the old part of Briancon, France when I noticed this sad guy. I got my wife to stand in between me and him, so it looked like we were doing the usual holiday snap, when really this lonely man begged for a portrait. The angle was not ideal and I was never completely taken with the background/bokeh. However, this image gives us all an insight into the life of this dear man and I find this image stills fills me with an overwhelming sense of compassion for him. I am also still left wondering what is going on in his life that deserves the depressed look.
