Is this the tunnel at the dock side of the Barry tunnel that cut accross Jackson bay, it went through the side of the tunnel cutting, and the tracks crossed the main tracks and to the breakwater.

Yes that's right. I had the good fortune to see a moving train on this odd branch once. Temporary rails were laid at right angles across the main running lines into Barry Pier Stn. The tunnel had no lining and the line ended up on the breakwater at Barry where some track still exists.

I remember being in Jackson bay when this tunnel was open one end, and just the very top couple of inches open the pier end, me and my mate made my son climb up and through the little gap. When we met up with my misses, my son had grazed knees was covered in dirt and bawling his eyes out. Oh happy days indeed. Sadly no camera.
