Colour my community...

Great colours

...and I will colour yours.....................

Today, our outreach programme once again touched the lives of the many wonderful children of the favela (shanty) community of Sítio Joaninha, who welcomed us back to another active day with music, arts, sports and culture.

It really was a joy seeing all those optimistic faces again and my camera simply melted........

Thank you so much everyone for such a positive response to this image.
This little girl was so busy painting away to her heart's content, quite unaware of my presence (I will post some others pictures of her painting later on...).
When she did eventually notice me, she carefully lifted the two corners of her artwork and tilted it towards my camera, hiding her own sweet little face, which was on level with the art table. It was as if she was saying: "Take a picture of it then!" (not quite understanding that I was really trying hard to capture a good shot of her concentrated self painting the picture.) I think you can feel her shyness of that very moment in this picture, which was quite contrasting to her highly active and "bubbling" behaviour later on during other activities in our outreach programme.
