Freedom fighters
12-year olds, Evandro and Roberth, carry with them the spirit of their enslaved forefathers, who developed capoeira during their fight for freedom in 19th. Century Brazil. Now the boys will spend some time in Norway sharing their knowledge of this remarkable sporting art with the children and young people who have supported the Hummingbird Project for more than a decade.
Listen to the tones of the Berimbau playing São Bento Grande. Quite different to those of the Hardingfele in this picture NB! The Berimbau is the principal instrument in Brazilian Capoeira, whereas the Hardingfele is that of Norwegian folkdancing and music. Commentsbekahpaige
