Students from St. Francis Grammar School painted this zebra as an "Independence Day" class project. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, they could not afford enough paint to cover the entire animal. Ironically, this is a fitting metaphor for the educational system - There are some issues that are "black & white" and will never change, no matter how many people try to slap on a new layer of paint to cover over them.
According to zoo officials, it will take another 6 to 8 weeks before the remaining colors fade back to the original black & white configuration.
