Looks like subspecies Meleagris gallopavo intermedia. I love the title, wild turkeys are so cool, thanks for posting.

Happy Thanksgiving Eric and family. And whoever puts Stanley on the table is in for a very tough chew - serves 'em right!
(And by the way, check your research - this ain't Stanley! This is Vanessa, and she ain't interested in no Thanksgiving dinner).
Yes, I am a turkey expert - don't ask.....

Yes, I rather think she was looking for a studly specimen like the Real Stanley

Happy Thanksgiving, Beefus. I promise that my model will have one, since nobody can catch the buggah.

Thanks everybody...and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Re: Stanley's gender...
His apparent girlie appearance is exactly what ticked off Rachel, Margaret and Ophelia (pictured above). The unspoken rule in turkeydom is "If you're a Tom, don't act like a Tam".
Some of the turkeys around here go to extreme measures to keep from being the "subject" of a mealtime prayer....even going so far as to de-wattle themselves.
I've seen it before.
If you were in Stanley's shoes...er...feet...what would you do?

We're sitting on the lanai, listening to exotic bird sounds, but I'm quite certain there are no Stanleys or Ophelias lodged in the "it-shall-remain-unnamed" tree adjacent to the porch. But I have seen some of these critters since our arrival in paradise...they looked quite relaxed, as do most of the human-type species...
Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore!

Meanwhile, six days later, Beefus finally manages to thank everyone for the nice comments and Thanksgiving wishes. He then slinks away from the keyboard...appreciative, but highly cognizant of the tardiness of his response.
