.... I was a bit surprised there was this much though with the torrential rain storms... mostly washed away ... lots of moldy boletus......very sad...

Nice haul. Hedgehog fungus are delicious. I did find 2 amethyst deceivers and 2 puffballs, but left them - well, there were only 2! The hedgehogs were plentiful, though you have to beat the slugs to them.

You can freeze the hedghogs for use in winter.

I'll go in the week to see what I can find...

So do you eat the Dryads Saddle? I didn't know it was edible!
I'm envious of the hedgehogs fungus - never found one.
But over here (London) there are just millions of little boletus mushrooms popping up at the moment - not yet mouldy. I'm drying masses of them and my home smells so strongly of mushrooms at the moment.

Dryads saddle .. I didn't think it was edible or worth it either but a looked online and came up with some hints and made this up - recipe here the texture really was just like squid..... but couldn't ever find any again.. season had ended however this weekend found this round the corner from my flat right in the centre of town though had to shinny up a tree..... still admiration from the neighbourhood not to be underated

I love Dryad's Saddle when young - before the pores enlarge & the undersides becomes honeycombed with them. Most people complain they don't taste good enough to gather.

Get'em young & tender, and treat them like root vegetables. I made a stew once with lamb, Dryad's Saddle, parsnips, carrots, & onions (& all the usual stew seasonings) - WOW good!
