I love walking through the city streets and coming upon an unexpected delight! These cages are hanging above Angel Pl, near Wynyard in Sydney. Each cage represents a bird species that could be heard singing in the Sydney basin prior to European settlement, and which have subsequently either disappeared entirely or been driven out by the invasive species - us. The sounds of those birdsongs can also be heard as you walk down this lane... it's eerily beautiful and quite haunting.
