porcupines in the trees
At the blueberry festival, some kids had apparently frightened a duo of porcupines, who climbed into the apple trees for safety. Quite a sight. This poor fellow seemed quite spooked, burying his little porcupine face into his little porcupine arms. (I've never seen a porcupine in the wild before, to the best of my recollection, so I'm taking people's word for it that this is what these are.)

on the hill
Took a walk with a friend yesterday to admire beautiful old houses in the neighborhood. Hadn't really intended it to be a photo excursion, or I would have brought the fancy cam. As it was, I'd only meant to get a quick shot with the spycam of a particular piece of lawn art that had caught my eye earlier... but I wound up unable to resist the compulsion to take photos of a number of beautiful houses, too. Like I need another fifty photos on my hard drive right now. Sigh.
