Congratulations on posting this to so many pools, and on getting some people seeming to think its great.
To me its just a bit boring - the large is better,but even when I can make out the detail, like the dusty track, to give a sense of scale it doesn't do much for me.

16 people who call it a favorite and 2 magazines and 1 newspaper don't agree with you. We each have our own tastes and while this photograph does not do anything for you, for most people who have seen it, it does. I did not get some people to think it is great. I have been told it doesn't "pop" yet when I look at the critics photographs it is obvious she has no clue what "pop" is. I was looking for comments to help me improve my photography but so far most of the deleteme comments are useless.

It's a great landscape and, forgive me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't look to me as if your photo does it justice.

From the difference of shadows on the left and right it looks like you were there at a good hour for landscape photography, but the tonal variation is almost non-existent. The Physical Geography is full of rills and cracks with super texture, but surprisingly little of that structure comes out in the photo, even in the large version. It looks like you could have done more with this, maybe by waiting an extra half-hour.

And even taking into account the lie of the land, the horizon looks slanted to the right in the background.

Yes I know many of the people here get their thrills saying things from a keyboard they would never say in person but your technical comments were most useful. I appreciate them and will use them as something to learn from. Your lecture comments can be taken for a long walk off a short pier.
