      I have Veale and he told me not to have surgery as I have BDD. I had surgery and had fabulusous results. I had genuine problems with my body and my one breast was classed as a deformity by a profesesor of psychiatry. I had a nose jod that went wrong and I was left with open wounds - Veale would not believe me even though a very respected surgery stated that I had open wound left by the first sureon. Veal stated as I was dissatisfide with the surgery, like who is going to like open wounds, that ment I had BDD and he refused to allow me surgey. Veale knew that by refusing there was a great risk of a siuicide. I had surgey anyway and loved it. I then challeged him on his diagnoses and his anti surgey stance to then be told that actually he does not know who will and will not benefit from surgey as its impossible to tell and that he does not know what psychiatric treatment work and which don't. He has high rates of relapes and high rates of suicide(37%) Yet surgey is 7% more sucessful, and that's using his own publish statistics, yet he proclaims his methods are better and tells patients not to have surgey. He has no objectivity at all if you report that the surgery was not done correctly he'll label you with BDD - he label you if even if you need surgey full stop. No money in it for him if surgery was practiced. Actually other studies done by a Dr. Andersan show that if you have bdd surgery is actually what you should have not pscychiarty treatment and he is in the psychologic bussiness not cosmetic. I nearly die because of Veale's anti surgey peddling and I will never forgive the man. I ended up hanging myself when a mood disorder that I had was untreated and undiagnse because veale put down my suicide phases down to BDD and a desire to surgey. The later letters I have from him are sicking as he then tried to soften his original claim of dont have surgey of you'll made worst message by saying it was mearly unpredicted - no he said it was contraindicated. He does not know yet he goes around condeming people to self harm and suicide. I would never let the man anywhere near me and if anyone asked me should they see this expert I'd say keep away as he is literaly just experimenting on people.
