Thanks for sharing. I think it is very mprotant to show that these images are composites and most newborns don't balance on their hands like this :)

Thanks guys! I actually got one shot without the hands in it, but wanted to show how you can still get a beautiful shot even if the baby is a bit wobbly :)

Great shot however....A newborn should never be left to do this on your own, Composites are a must! Otherwise that's just cruel!

Why is it cruel? I'm totally patient, wait until the baby settles into this position comfortably, let go long enough to get the shot, then lay the baby down out of this position. I don't see how it's cruel at all? Maybe if someone tries to force this position and doesn't have the patience to wait until the babe is comfortable, settled, and truly asleep, I can understand because the baby might suddenly fall over. But I can assure you that if you are comfortable with working with newborns, know how to handle them properly and safely, and have incredible patience with them, it's completely safe. I'm certainly not suggesting that you go out and practice this on a newborn if you don't have their safety and comfort at heart. Of course, while you are learning to handle tiny babies, please make sure to do this as a composite. However, I work in a NICU, I shoot a ton of newborns, and I'm completely comfortable and safe handling a new baby...I'm certainly, by no stretch of the imagination, cruel.

not cruel! Well done. We wouldn't be photographing newborns if we didn't have the patience and the experience working with them.
