Irish Rail 201 class diesel loco number 215 running along the banks of the Royal Canal having just passed Pike Bridge with an RPSI Santa Special on a December morning.
This is a very rare sight indeed. I'm pretty sure this is only the second time ever that a 201 has been on this line. The last time it was also on an RPSI Santa Speical in December 2009. That time it was an NIR class 201 in Enterprise livery, so this is the first time a 201 in Irish Rail InterCity livery has been on this line.

Although there is no frost or snow on the ground, you can still tell it's winter because the canal is frozen over!
