      Yup, it's a cliche and I should've gone further with it - but I'm still learning ;)

Huh. I'm trying to develope (as Skea said) my "critical eye." It isn't very advanced yet, so I can't see anything wrong with this picture. So I'm falling back on personal taste. After the wonderfully clear composition, nothing grabs me. Looks like a hallmark card. Except I really love the painted look on the ball and the fingers.

I prepare to have my first entry shot down in a hail of deletes :)

Ah well, it's the inspiration I need to try and get better, now I've seen the standards here.

(Rimbaudian) - your compositions and subject matter are simply incredible!

I fully understand the "groovy" comment, in that - yeah, hmmm, boring.

The idea was to create a stock image that would "sell" as a corny business concept, but looking at it again, it's pretty dull. Hmm, in fact, it's fairly dismal.

composition and texture it's very well reached. I like the almost-watercolour-orgouache-kindofcolour. But definitely, you need to look for a powerful history behind this nice composition

@bb matt: I wouldn't go judging the picture's marketablility based on the comments you get in Deleteme.

the colors contrast, the position of the fingers, the form of what you see
might be a cliche, but i totally like it. its an eye-catcher nonetheless
and well, there's pretty much you can associate with this.

      simplicity still works!

Thanks, I guess your right Zelik, but hey, when I look at level of some of the top photos here, it's mind boggling - if I could ever get close to that point, I'd be happy.

      Thanks for the comments !

Maybe it is just a matter of personal taste but I agree it looks great because and not despite the simplicity. I have it saved and made it today's screensaver. Thanks a lot.

This is really awesome! Sometimes it's hard to find a nice, crisp, crystal ball in a hand, and yours is truly magical. Love the blue tones in it.

Thanks for sharing this with the Creative Commons license. I'm sure I'll be using it. I'll post the results here for you when I do.

      Happy New Year to you!
