Great shot, and one that definately fits the ideology we have over at Small Figures In A Vast Expanse. So epic, it's a fantastic capture.

This is a phony -- Unless it was done on a planet where the sun does NOT cast shadows....

The trick is NOT to look at the image; but, rather to look at the LIGHT; or more specifically, where the light ISN'T -- if you look at the rock formations the apparent solar direction is from about 10 O'Clock high; however, there is NO corresponding shadow either from the equipment; nor cast upon the rocks by the person in any of the sequence photos.

I was in school when I got this over the colleges Email system and could not take a lot of time -- Now that I have had a second look I also want to point out that the REALLY interesting photos that are absent from the "sequence" are the ones where this guy changed his pants -- notice he is wearing BROWN pants in the original photo; and BLUE in the subsequent photos. Pretty neat trick considering he did not have any spare pants with him on the rock. Perhaps he wove them out of his long hair and then dyed them blue -- all this taking place so rapidly it was impossible for the person purporting to take these "real life" pictures to catch a single frame of him in his underwear.... :)

Some final technical notes -- you will notice there is NO motion blur in ANY of the photos -- now, if the jumping sequence REALLY took place AFTER sunset as the text alleges; just HOW was this done without blurring?? EVEN low-light high-speed films would blur without adequate lighting and FLASH photography would be impossible for the following reasons:

1. NO flash recovers fast enough to capture the rapidly implied stop motion of the jump sequence -- given the apparent distances involved this would require about 1 full power flash every 200ths of a second.

2. No flash shadows

3. NO high-contrast burn out that would inevitably occur with a high-power flash -- Optical physics dictates that photaic values (light brightness) falls off at the inverse square of the distance. i.e. when you are twice as far away it takes 4 times as much light to achieve the same illumination. In order to evenly light the subject in the alleged sequence with a high power flash the foreground (rocks nearer the subject) would have been burned out -- that is why the foreground in high speed flash illuminated sports pictures is over-exposed while the backgrounds are dark.

4. NOW also notice how the pictures are in focus front to front to back. i.e. the background even in the distance is just as crisp as the foreground. THIS can ONLY be achieved by stopping down a camera's lens to a very small aperature. BUT, SMALL aperatures REQUIRE larger amounts of light.. MUCH LARGER -- each F-Stop of a lens requires TWICE as much light as the one before. IF the lens were stopped down to that point (at LEAST F-16), the background would be dark and the amount of artificial illumination required would be on the order of a Hollywood Studio Lighting Bank -- BTW, these normally require multi kilowatt diesel generators... and all that implies in terms of credibility for these images.

5. Next notice the subject in mid jump is back-light as indicated by the lighted fringing around the subject -- either there is light from behind the subject or this is a PHOTO-SHOP software production -- I favor the latter considering the physics of the landing and strange gaps near and under the feet in the final photo of this sequence.

5. Finally, the perpetrator of this fraudulent sequence alleges these are ad hoc photos taken over some condierable period of time. The initial photo shows a 10 O'Clock high solar illumination while the closing photos allegedly took place after sunset -- even in mountainous country this would be a time span of 6 hours or more in the winter; and considering the summer appearance more likely 8 to 10 hours. So apparently, we are being asked to believe this ad hoc photographer held his/her camera in the SAME posiiton all during that time as the framing of the photos is IDENTICAL throughout the entire sequence. NOTE, I am NOT talking about the cropping; but the FRAMING -- notice how the horizontal lines of the rocks line up with the background identically throughout the entire sequence. With steady hands like that, the perpetrator could shoot the eye out of a squirrel on the moon from NYC with a BB gun... GIMMEE A BREAK...:)

6. Legally, the perpetrator of this photo series has NO right to subject this person to publicity without a photo release -- however, he claims he has no idea who this person is. Either he is willing to risk a multi-million dollar lawsuit or there is chicanery afoot.

All in All it adds up to just another Web Based Fraud designed to promote the interests of the individual promoting the pictures by taking advantage of the gullibility and physical science ignorance of the general public.
