After 9 years I have had the chance to see more from Bilbao. The first
visit this year was during daylight of which more later.
Today I want to show you a photo of the second day. The weather
startet very beautiful this morning, so my son Bastian and I decided
to go to Bilbao. We wanted to take photos from the fascinating
architecture of the Guggenheim Museum at the blue hour.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum of modern and contemporary art designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, built by Ferrovial and located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. It is built alongside the Nervion River, which runs through the city of Bilbao to the Atlantic Coast. The Guggenheim is one of several museums belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The museum features permanent and visiting exhibits of works by Spanish and international artists.
The curves on the building were designed to appear random. The architect has been quoted as saying that "the randomness of the curves are designed to catch the light". When it was opened to the public in 1997, it was immediately hailed as one of the world's most spectacular buildings in the style of Deconstructivism, although Gehry does not associate himself with that architectural movement. Architect Philip Johnson called it "the greatest building of our time".
The museum's design and construction serve as an object lesson in Gehry's style and method. Like many of Gehry's other works, it has a structure that consists of radically sculpted, organic contours. Sited as it is in a port town, it is intended to resemble a ship. Its brilliantly reflective titanium panels resemble fish scales, echoing the other organic life (and, in particular, fish-like) forms that recur commonly in Gehry's designs, as well as the river Nervión upon which the museum sits. Also in typical Gehry fashion, the building is uniquely a product of the period's technology. Nach 9 Jahren hatte ich an zwei Tagen die Gelegenheit mehr von Bilbao
zu sehen. Der erste Besuch dieses Jahr war während des Tages, dazu
mehr später.
Heute möchte ich euch ein Foto vom zweiten Tag zeigen. Das Wetter war
schon seit morgens zauberhaft schön und so entschlossen mein Sohn
Bastian und ich uns nach Bilbao zu fahren. Wir wollten die
faszinierende Architektur des Guggenheim Museum zur wunderschönen
blauen Stunde aufnehmen.

Das Guggenheim-Museum Bilbao ist ein Kunstmuseum für Moderne Kunst in Bilbao im spanischen Baskenland. Es hat eine Ausstellungsfläche von 11.000 m² und zeigt sowohl eine Dauerausstellung sowie externe Wanderausstellungen. Das Museum ist eines von sieben Guggenheim-Museen der US-amerikanischen Stiftung Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
Das einem Oval ähnliche Gebäude befindet sich an der Ria des Flusses
Nervión in der Innenstadt Bilbaos. Architekt ist der
kanadisch-US-amerikanische Architekt und Designer Frank O. Gehry. Das
1997 fertiggestellte Gebäude ist für seinen dekonstruktivistischen
Baustil berühmt. Die Bauzeit betrug vier Jahre. Das Gebäude wurde in
der geplanten Bauzeit als auch im Budgetrahmen errichtet. Das
Konstrukt wurde zuvor mit CATIA berechnet. Das Guggenheim-Museum ist
eine der bedeutendsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt. 2001 erhielt es
