Food, Culture, Performance 2008
Myron Beasley, associate professor of American cultural studies and African American studies, presented a “performative meal” in the Bates Mill. Held in conjunction with Museum L-A, the event culminated Beasley’s 2008 Short Term seminar, “Food, Culture, and Performance.” Examining cultural engagement through food (here, a squash-crab bisque served in a soup-kitchen setting) students prepared for the event by interviewing local citizens to gather stories, histories, and recipes.(Phyllis Graber Jensen/Bates College)
