This stupidty reminds me of "freedom fries." Remember back in March 2003? If memory serves, french fries were introduced by a US citizen in Upstate New York.

2. If the glove doesn't fit, you must aquit. (If the remarks don't point to you, don't be offended by it.)

But, on re-reading his remarks this morning, after a fairly good night's rest (my computer told me it was 1 AM shortly after I retired and I got up and stuck my headphone in so that the hourly reports wouldn't be audible).

Then I realized that, after all, CARPE OMNIVS! (Voglio Tutto o Niente!) wasn't as general as I had first thought. And the magic words were: ... To most of you I sound crazy and I don't even make sense because you're such Retarded Ignorant Scum ...

Of course, he has absolutely no way of knowing what "most of us" think. So, my dear friends, if the cap doesn't fit, don't wear it.

As it turns out, I happen to be singing from the same sheet of music and the evidence is widespread. The citizens of the USA are essentially totally uninformed and, with very few exceptions, lack the will and desire to struggle for any change whatsoever, even though a war is being waged against us.

And why is this? I believe we are all too comfortable. We aren't forced to live on $2/day; with the exception of Blacks, we aren't riddled with bullets and beaten half to death by the police; the school system has under-educated and mis-educated us; and the mainstream media has assumed that task of turning our minds into mush; the politicians lie, because if they don't we won't vote for them, simply because we cannot handle the truth; Bush has raped us, without even a dab of Vaseline, and we haven't let out more than a whimper; to quote Malcolm X, way back in 1965:

"You've been hoodwinked. You've been had. You've been took. You've been led astray, led amok. You’ve been bamboozled."

And while I agree wholeheartedly with my friend's comments, I try to understand why we are a nation of sheep.

As I mentioned above, the educational system and mass media collude to keep us in the dark. Were it not for the so often maligned internet, most of us still wouldn't have a clue about 90% of what we have learned outside of mass media. So, one has to consider the fact that people who, for one reason or another, depend on mass media are never going to be informed, therefore never going be ready to act in their own interests.

The other thing is that the government has gotten smarter and more brutal in addressing dissent. I cannot enter a plane without removing my tam, my shoes/boots, removing my jacket, opening my camera, my computer. And if I wore a keffiyah, I am sure I would not be enter an airplane, and would be a marked man.

Citizens are fast losing our rights, the Constitution has been shredded, along with White House emails that would show how much it broke the law. This Administration has been more secretive than any before it, and the weak-kneed Democrats have jumped on the Bush bandwagon so as prove that they are as tough.

The list is too long to list here. Cops who have Tasers awake each morning eager for opportunities to use them on citizens; paraplegics are thrown to the ground when they don't stand as ordered by the police; the government has "embedded" journalists in the war, the very journalists who depend on their military buddies to ensure their safety; the government has designated "Protest Zones" and evicted people who utter a single word of dissent or display a single poster of dissent.

Indeed, we have become a nation of sheep and we are being led to the slaughter.

Take the Iraq/Afghanistan war. I have long ago concluded that the only that this war could be brought to a swift conclusion was if more US military were killed. Period. Kill 10,000 more military folks and, suddenly, US citizens will notice that something is amiss. Then they will demand a speedy withdrawal.

General George S. Patton said that

"The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his."

As long as Patton's thesis holds true in Iraq, where the ratio is 1.2 million to 4,000+ there is no incentive, on the part of citizens, to see a speedy end to the war.

To my mind, only a reversal of that ratio will bring an end to the illegal war. And if we believe that our votes this November will do the trick, bring the war to a close, we will be sadly disappointed. A President who gets in the way of the Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex (as JFK who didn't follow through with air cover during the Cuban invasion at the Bay of Pigs, and harbored the idea of winding down the war in Vietnam) will become the target of the real rulers, in collaboration with the CIA, who really know how to snuff the opposition.

How it took years for us to discover that the villains we were taught about in school were really our heroes because they lost their lives fighting for our freedom. But it was the British government who controlled our education in my youth, and even though they are not there now, they have left enough brain-dead educators behind that I doubt the children are being taught what they need to know.

I will not blame people who have been so misled, so mis- and under-educated that there is no way of knowing what you know. You, like all of us, were born with a tabula rasa and if you were not fortunate enough to meet certain people, to have read certain books, to have been lucky to live in an environment that made you who you are today, as informed as you are, you would be nothing more than SCUM yourself. I believe your contempt for humanity makes it impossible for you to see where some people emerged from the womb destined to lose, and others destined for the good life. Take George Bush, for example, who has never succeeded at anything. Still managed to become President ... twice. Which made his father a very sad man because it was Jeb who he wanted to be President.

The little that I know, I have gained by serendipitously. I came to the US with an almost total unawareness of the world around me. But within two weeks, I discovered WBAI. In 1972, I listened to the lectures of the late Professor Harvey Goldberg at UW-Madison. And, from the 70s, I have relied on alternative media, from the East Village Other, the Great Speckled Bird, to The Village Voice and beyond. And now, the raving Alex Jones and a host of other sites.

And although I am far less informed than you are, I can easily understand why a vast majority of people will never, ever be able, either through intellectual capacity and/or opportunities, to attain your level of knowledge. I don't look down at them, nor despise them, nor do they disgust me. Some of us simply never had and never will have a chance.

Now, I realize how one-dimensional I must appear here in the world of cyberspace, always pointing out the stuff that is going wrong (with the exception of Jamaicans who are always breaking world records and flying around the world solo) and never offering solutions. The reason why I don't offer solutions is because I don't have a clue about how to fix the mess we're in. I conclude that if you have solutions you are keeping your cards hidden. I admire the Algerian resistance against the French, as I admire the French resistance against Germany.

I admire the Cuban Revolution that rescued its people from the US mafioso in Havana, while extricating the country from the claws of US imperialism.

And I admire the resistance in Iraq and Afghanistan who are fighting to keep their country free from imperialist domination. On the other hand, some people will admire the US government for already killing in excess of one million innocent men, women and children in Iraq alone. Of course, I know you couldn't possibly admire those ragheads and camel jockeys, because they are losers. The US has killed more than a million of them, and they have only managed to kill a mere 4,000 plus about another 1,000 or so mercenaries. Maybe they will get lucky the longer the illegal war endures. Then they may get a little of your respect.

If only we could rise to those levels, then we could, in turn, probably merit just a tad of your admiration.
