Wow! Love the colour! This is better than most of my sunset HDRs... :) Sunsets are perfect for HDRing due to the usual silhouettes!

Heres the link to the photo:

Its 8:36:50 pm on June 29, 2006 at Pacific Grove, CA 93950 Latitude: 36.61867 Longitude: -121.94065.

Basicly I was running 15 minutes late for a sunset panorama with my new pano mount......The pano sucked but this was the payoff instead.

Anyway I did not use bracketing because it was too dark to see the led so I manually shot three:

      f4 1/60 -
      f4.5 1/80 -
      f5 1/100 .

This was a rush job in the dark, the sun was already gone. I can't justify my choices I was just grabbing what I could fast.

I fed these three into photomatix HDR 2.3 at the default HDR settings. It looked a bit pale to me ...I thought it was a typical cartoon.

Then, In photoshop, I hit it with Extensis Intellihance Pro 4.0 which lets you also process with default settings, which I did just for fun.
Its a new plugin I never used before. Beginners luck for sure.

I may have also tweaked it with auto levels/contrast/color in CS2 but I can't remember for sure.

Anyway thats when it suddenly looked special.

I should mention I did not shoot in NEF (RAW), Its all Large jpg and I stepped it down to 8 bit process as soon as I was in photoshop. The final image was 3008x2000 at 7MB.

Thanks everyone. Glad that you enjoyed my lucky shot in the dark

      Hi Bob,
I would like to ask permission to use a small version of this photo in my master's thesis on city planning. I'm new to Flickr and not sure how to find your email contact. Thanks,
      Susan

    17. Bob۞Who (69 months ago | reply)

Sure, Susan. As long as you credit me as the photographer and you're not selling or publishing the image you have my permission to use this image for your thesis including the additional copies needed for submission to various professors and colleagues. But let me know before you're published by McGraw Hill. I'd be interseted in reading you're thesis should it ever manage to be accessable in the school library. Are you at UCSC, CSUMB or MIIS?
