At a quick glance I agree with popo, I think it is the light, it doesn't appear so harsh so isn't producing such flat areas of colour. Not a criticism though Barb you are still a genius ;)

Yes, you're right! The light here is much softer compared to Australia. It's a big difference. A lot of Australian painters missed that light when they went on their european sojourns.
