Hey, that's me in the gray hat! Adrian Thomas and I were loading up this 24-foot U-Haul truck with more than 800 boxes of food donations for the Orange County Food Bank in Southern California.

Our group is called "Generation Change," and we consist of volunteers from the Mission Viejo, CA, phone bank for Obama's Campaign for Change. After the election, we formed this group to support the national legislative agenda of the Obama-Biden administration through our grass-root efforts.

More than 75 volunteers from local Obama phone banks worked three weeks at food drives in supermarkets throughout south Orange County, CA. We delivered more than 20,000 pounds in food donations, toiletries and diapers to the Orange County Food Bank. This food bank services more than 325 local charities, and their demand is increasing while their supplies are down by 19% from last year. Scott, fabulous job on th volunteering and getting the donations in. The world could use more people like you in it. Hopefully the first babies of 2009 grow up to be just as giving! I wish our phone bank here had formed something like this. We made such change during the election, we can make change all year every year. Well, anyway, thanks for all you do!

I'd hope that the Obama administration would take up food drives as a national campaign of sorts to drive the ability of all food banks to restock and deepen their shelves, there is no greater good than the ability of one's countrymen/women to help stock the shelves of those who need a helping hand and a full belly these days...it's a noble cause one that needs attention countrywide right now.
