and let me quote this wonderful man:
"I want to open up transparency in government, so that you guys know what is happening. I want to revamp our White House website. I know it’s nice to take the virtual tour of the China Room,” he notes sarcastically, “but I want people to be able to know, ‘today, this issue is going on…today’s President Obama talked about his proposal for $4000 student college tuition credits, it’s going to be going into this congressional committee, these are the key leaders in the House and Senate that are going to be deciding on the bill, here are the groups that are involved that are supporting it, you should contact your Congressman. Just creating the situation that if people want to get involved and it’s easy. The information is out there, but trying to track it down isn’t…The more we can enlist the American people to pay attention and be involved, that’s the only way we are going move an agenda forward. That’s how we are going to counteract the special interests."

ebayjughead says:

This event was a reminder that the real engine behind change, and the only real force of good in the world is numbers. Numbers of people asking, insisting, that something happen. That's a force greater than war or money, or greed. It's the world's greatest power.

If the truth is available, then the more popular an idea is, the more likely it is to be useful for us as a nation and even as a species--the less likely wars are to be fought, the more likely diplomacy is to win out over aggression. When people have access to the truth they make good decisions. It's a tragic failure that until now this country has strayed so far from this simple concept.

Trust in the people is what Barack is selling. He's asking for us to be involved and for us to invest in his trust of us. Not the other way around. What could be easier? :-)

Barack Obama is a good example of this principle, and his presidency will hopefully be a renewal of this principle in a country which desperately needs direction, progress and change.

If I were religious, I'd be praying my ass off that this all works.

It has been quite a ride this election
Now that you have won the chance to run in another race.
Go to the starting line on Januanry , 2009 to run the race for the most significant presidential term ever held in the entire history of this nation.
The American people are looking at you as you go there
Watching on the sideline.
Please, Mr President Elect Barrack Obama,
Please call them to join you in this race to become a part of this historical setting term.
Call on all of us, from every walk of life to be engaged in this effort. We all should do our part in dispelling what divides us and championing what unites us. That those who support you should look to letting go of agendas and trying to pressure you to act .

But do Reassure us, let us know that so long as you have us listed on your TO DO list we will not be left out or forgotten.
Call on us so that what we need to make sure of is that we are putting on our sweat suits fo work hard for the economic , educational, social and yes even political changes that must be brought about .
So we stop destroying each other
Call on us to change our dialogue from divisiveness to one that unifies, heals and nurtures and encourage each other
That we should encourage each other to explore new ideas and that we seek to implement these
We can produce new FORDs and GATES and so on...
Inspire in us the spirit of inovation in every field not just science
Call on us to work with our community organizers and our local polititians in small ways and in big ways so that accross America we look like a giant web of busy bees
Call on us to spread the words that builld up and move each other forward. in the face of these economic hard times.
So Please inspire us to action.
That those who are down and count themselves out of the economic mainstream (no longer looking for work) should be tap on the shoulder and invited to join with the rest of us who are looking for work because We Can Overcome

We can be encourage to work on incubating new ways to do things, incubating new enterprenuers, new teachers, new social workers, new nurses, new... you name it. we CAN DO IT
Continue to Inspire us
Because when we see ourselves as part of what the American dream is
we will then all contribute towards is fufillment in ernest.

This Change has been more than inspirational...

It felt visceral. I cried the night of the election and I cry more now each time I see a further sign of how foundational this change is… it’s in all the comments here.

I’m a white sixty year old Canadian/British male, psychotherapist for 37 years. I want to comment from that perspective on where I believe we’re going from here.

Being moderately good at what I ‘do’ as a psychotherapist comes, I believe ;>) at least in part from my awareness of how we are all ‘split’. We are divided into differing sides of self - loving/fearful, awake/asleep, male/female, angry/defeated, forgiving/hateful - you name it. I work at healing that split in myself as well as in others (as they choose to!) We live, in those ways, in ‘duality’: we see ourselves as ‘just a body, mind and feelings here’ but we are also a ‘consciousness that animates this life process’.

In 1971 I saw perhaps one male to 30 women. These days I often have more men than women to book for therapy. That change parallels, I believe, what Barack’s election is saying we can achieve.
I grew up in a relatively privileged environment. Yet having been crippled at times by depression or anxiety, watching Obama I realized something fundamental. There is probably a part of each of the 6 and a half billion of us that has felt we Have To: 'sit at the back of the bus' - be vulnerable and have someone else in charge of our lives. Maybe the change he is facilitating is one we can each participate in. Maybe we can each risk being much more the Authors of our Own Stories… bridging our brokenness. I call it Switching Off Autopilot.
