Wow, this was a really complete set, really captured the whole night post-win. Thank you so much Team Obama for being so open with the world, and congratulations President Obama and Mr. Biden. I can't believe for the first time in my life I am excited to hear from my president when he speaks.

Sheesh, I finally stopped crying over this tremendous win.... and these pics made me tear up all over again. : )

This is the first campaign I ever volunteered for, because Obama is the first politician to really inspire me. I made calls, canvassed, and worked as a poll monitor... and it was fun! I hope President Obama continues to ask for us to work as volunteers to make our country better, because I, for one, would gladly answer the call.

Good luck, Barack Obama, and thank you for restoring our nation's hope.

Everybody, pray for his safety and be patient -- he's inherited more problems than anyone since FDR, and he won't be able to work miracles overnight.

But we're on our way!

I just listened to Obama's first press conference as President-elect. There is something very reassuring to see all of the routines and arrangement being put in place. I felt somehow included, even though I was tuned to the radio. I think it is not just that I am listening for it, I do think it is part of the style that is appearing.

Sharing all of these moments with these pictures makes that even more present for me. I am grateful and thankful.

PS: Well, JS, I simply figured that the caption was set when the entire batch was uploaded to Flickr. I go back and edit mine (sometimes), but for a stream like this, I am simply thankful that it has been put where we can all enjoy it. It would be cool if we, as appreciated observers, added caption information and identified people that are not already completely recognizable around the world. Yes we can [;<).

KItty and Valentina. Actually, the election was called at 8:01pm Pacific Standard Time, immediately after the polls closed on the US Pacific Coast. That was 11:01pm Eastern time and 10:01pm in Chicago. I suspect the date was a mistake on the caption (now that I see this is what the comment was about), although some of them might have been taken after midnight. According to the photographer's camera (and whatever time zone its timestamp was set at), the last photo of the set was taken on November 5. If the date-taken was set manually, it was probably mistaken.

Transparency and community involvement aren't just concepts reserved for the content of speeches. For this presidency to be truly enrolling, this momentum needs to continue. It's gotten us this far, but the real work lies ahead of us.

In the words of the Joker, "Why so serious?"

OK, I know why he is so serious. But what is really striking in those pictures is how somber our next President looks while he is watching the numbers role in. I see no glee or joy, but instead an overwhelming sense of responsibility.

Sure he starts to smile as people come in and congratulate him, but that's a reaction to friends and allies. But he looks like he's assumed the weight of the world. There's no joy there in beating the other guy.

It reassures me that he didn't take this trip for his personal glory, but instead to tackle the problems we all now face. I'm sure Bill Clinton and GWB were both smiling a lot more than that when the numbers showed up on the TeeVee.

These shots are amazing. The Obamas are the best looking family the White House has ever had. This is truly the first time I'm proud to be a naturalized American, and as someone previously said, I'm at last excited to hear from my President. Words can't describe the overwhelming emotions I've been experiencing for the past several days. Moments like this prove that there is hope in society and in the world, amid the chaos, war, and destruction. Good luck to Obama and his beautiful family! I'm certainly looking forward to the next four years!

Thanks for sharing those pics. I am stunned at how relaxed he was during it all. It seems strange to see him in such a down to earth context, almost as though we forgot that he could be like the rest of us...

I am writing from Switzerland, everyone here is extremelly happy about this election. This America inspires us also, what a monumental change from the last 8 years...

My favorite photo is the one with President-elect Obama holding his mother-in-law's hand. She was stepping in for Obama's parents and grandparents, particularly his grandmother who passed away a day before the election. Without saying a word, she was telling him how proud everyone was of him and that his parents and grandparents would have been so proud of him that day.

beautiful set of photos, David Katz! I cried tears of joy when I heard President-Elect Obama's speech and got teary-eyed again as I saw these photos (as many others did), and even when talking to friends we all still get so emotional about the win on Tuesday.

that sense of hope that was there but not quite visible became visible when Obama was elected the 44th President of the U.S. This goes for me and so many others, I got a txt from my 11yr old cousin the day after the election stating Obama was elected President. Thank you for restoring hope in our world!

It's sunday morning and I still can't believe it. We're finally getting our country back. This is the first time I've ever given to a political campaign, the first time I didn't feel I was voting for the lesser of two evils. Sharing these photos with all of us around the globe shows once more how much Obama values ordinary people. We all feel better, hopeful again and important parts of the global community, not some small meaningless instruments in the hands of ruthless political systems and its agents. Thanks for letting us finally feel good, regardless of being Americans or not. Obama is a gift for the whole world. After all, we are all one people regardless of nation, faith or color of our skin, and yes, we can. Thank you for choosing him, America!

I am so proud that I was a part of the Barack Obama campaign. I worked on phone banks and Camp Obamas every weekend. I attended meetings and made calls to volunteers all week. Now that President-Elect Barack Obama has won, I am recovering from it all.

I hope that Obama can take some time to recover and recharge from the campaign - before January 20, when his work as president will be very difficult and all-consuming.
