hello, I've stolen your phone

hello, I've stolen your phone by awbalfour.
thought this photo was the result of a software bug. Turns out that the man in the picture is one of our cleaning staff.

One of our phones went missing a couple of weeks ago.

Our man, who seems somehow to have taken possession of the phone (he claims it belongs to a neighbour, go figure), clearly didnt realise it had Shozu (photo uploading software) installed on it linked to this Flickr (photo sharing) account. When you take a photo with the phone by default it asks if you want to send the image to flickr - obviously inadvertently our man clicked ok and sent this delightful picture of himself to this account.

Actions is being taken...results soon

(see also: flickr.com/photos/balf/1901498967/ which I didnt spot as being from my stolen phone earlier probably because he was using the smaller camera on the n93 which is very low res)

This is awesome! It's going to be an interesting day at the office next time you see him cleaning around your desk.

Thanks for giving me the heads up on your story. We had another similar incident last year which became one of the most popular stories on Digg.com... you can check it out here!

People seem to think these incidents are ShoZu marketing scams but it totally shows the power of mobile 2.0 in all its glory :-)

Best,
Jambo (ShoZu)

Hey maybe ShoZu should add a "Phone Stolen" setting on portal, which remotely sets auto-upload on, GPS tagging and cc's every upload to your email address plus anything else that could be used to track the culprit.

Hi: I had exactly the same experience. (Except, in my case I was very unpleasantly accused by hundreds of people in comments, blogs, and phone calls of being some sort of guerilla marketer for ShoZu and a liar in general. I am glad that this hasn't happened to you. I hope that now the crappy digg fanboys realize this is just something that emerging pervasive social media has produced.) I hope that you get your phone back! best of luck, Ben Clemens
