Sailing the Seattle skies

    Newer Older

Almost a year now since I posted similar shots of the the Seattle skyline (when I initially moved here).
This time with the moon - yay!

Its also been a really long time since I did any night shots.

Did a better job of color balancing as well as stitching exposures in this one (IMHO of course).

      beautful,
lucky to include the moon we have lots of clouds lately making shooting the moon tough

This is perfect, just perfect. Everything is exposed just right, and I love the composition on this. The other one felt rather cramped; this one has so much more breathing room. All that negative space, only punctuated by the moon on one side.

(And I'm not just saying that because I wanted to use the word "punctuated" metaphorically.)

I really like this one Bala. I like the composition, if you blended in the moon, it's hard to detect. Good job with the borders, too.

      : Thanks Wayne!

: Thanks Mohan. I've decided to wander more with my camera at night.

      : Thanks Vijay :)

: Thanks Aditya. The lighting conditions were very suitable for a good photo!

: I agree! The very next day, it was so cloudy that I couldn't even see the moon.

: Thanks Rahul! As always, your insightful comments are much appreciated. I always am torn when shooting cityscapes at night - I usually want crowded compositions (to show the bustling "city" - you know), but you're right that it doesn't look very photogenic. I don't know how to make busy compositions look elegant.

      : Thanks a lot, my friend :)

: Thanks Priya! Seattle is such a fun city - you should definitely visit. I'll be your guide around the city (and I promise not to poke fun at Canon while you're around :P)

: Thanks Wijadi. I did blend in the moon (I'll post the individual exposures once I get home).

      : Thanks dude !

Wow Bala! That is a great shot of the Seattle skyline with the bonus of the moon! Thats the money shot! And of course it makes me homesick! And I guess I will be in that Canon ribbing when I am up there in Sept ... ;)
