Wind Farm This is Kotzebue's wind farm. There are about 20 wind turbines on this plot of land.
I've heard this farm is a mixed blessing. Where it supplies more than enough energy for the town, all the excess is to be bought back by the electrical company. I believe the company is getting tired of doing so and may want the farm to be shut down. If anyone has any contrary or additional information, please chime in. The gray line running through the photo from behind the orange building is an antennae. This may be better viewed large. I remember that when the country had the first big push for energy conservation in the 1970's, a law was passed requiring utilities to buy the excess power produced by small private plants. However, I also vaguely remember hearing that there was an attempt to reverse that law, i dunno if the utilities were successful.
