Wonderful. I only passed through Batman
travelling from Hasankeyf to Van and after
seeing this picture I wish I'd stayed for a
day or two. Still, something to do next
time.
No there isn't, there has never been a
railway line from Istanbul to Van. There is
a line from Van into Iran. Just goes to show
how ell Lonely Planet has done its research
in Eastern Turkey.
I found so much information wrong in it
especially when it came to hotels. Speaking
to hotel owners they told me they hadn't seen
a Lonely Planet representative for many
years, well over ten. There was one due, so
one owner told me, he'd had a phone call from
them saying they were coming and were going
to check up on the hotel. Totally the wrong
way to go about it, they should not let them
know so that they can see it as it is
normally not prepared for them with special
service.

I just stopped at this place for taking photos, too. I'm not sure this place is nice to stay or not, though surely nice place to swim.

The Lonely Planet Guide said Batman was not particularly interesting, but then, the same guide says that there is a rail line from Istanbul to Van!!!
