The Routeburn Track is the perfect track for you, and your friends or family, if you love being amongst nature and want an exciting outdoors adventure on a track that has excellent facilities.

This is a Great Walk and offers a high standard of track and very comfortable, serviced huts as well as camping opportunities. During the winter months (May to October) the Routeburn Track reverts from a 'Great Walk' to a backcountry experience and services are reduced accordingly.

This Routeburn Track available on www.backcountrynz.com describes the journey from east to west; there is a sense of exploration in starting from the mouth of the Routeburn Valley, following in the footsteps of early Maori travellers, Caples, Barrington and those other European explorers who pushed into unknown from the valley's head.
