The Gnome in Somebody's Front Yard

The Gnome in Somebody's Front Yard by B Tal.
“They may call it a home page, but it's more like the gnome in somebody's front yard than the home itself.”
Tim Berners-Lee

Gnome lawn ornaments found on the steps of a Newbury Street Shoppe in Boston, Massachusetts. (Couldn't resist the Berners-Lee dork quote :oP)

there's something about the combination of the light and the dof which gives this shot the photographic equivalent of a 'straight face', kind of deadpan humor -- as if you are treating the gnomes to all the visual dignity of an architectural detail or something like that.

@voxipsa: Thanks for the thought - I think you're right. This wasn't my complete intention when taking/tweaking/posting, but I liked the deep dark colors I got out of the whole process as well as the shadows that were made (around the beards). To me, there is a sense of dark dignity - like these guys are up to something.

Thanks again for the dialogue.
