Ha ha ha! You've got to be kidding me! :-)
Would i be wrong in guessing this is a bit of an accident blackspot?

Tommok...I am not sure about it being an accident blackspot. It has been there for a good few years now, so I guess people are mostly OK with it now.
But I was really glad that I needed the first exit on my first visit.

KevP...thanks for the info,I didn't know that. I think I may be the only one on flickr who has taken a shot of it.

Jane Mary...it is fun to watch OAP's and drivers from europe trying to negogiate it.

Carl (CMP73)....yes it's for real, but the fourth exit is not.

there is another one at Hatton Cross...close to Heathrow...purde madness....the worst is, my company is probably responsible for the design ;-)

I have used this roundabout many times, and surprisingly, it works, not had a toot toot yet.

Hahahaha!, One need a stiff drink before entering this roundabout...

I lived half a year very close to that roundabout and never recognized an accident. But I didn't have a car there (luckily)...

When you drive through this you actually pass through THREE roundabouts: the first clockwise (the standard direction for the UK), then ANTI-clockwise through the big middle one, then again clockwise at your chosen exit. (Sorry for boring those to whom this was obvious.)

my partner lived down there for years and said it definitely works!!

I'm in America, and I really miss roundabouts. From here, they seem very sane. Better than traffic light after traffic light.

I also took signs for granted until I moved. Helping strangers negotiate unknown roads isn't really the point of highway signs here......I mean, at least you have some idea of what you're up against as you approach this thing........it seems so friendly.......I think I'm homesick............:)

Definitely not an accident blackspot. It was before the roundabouts were built, but as many people have already commented, it works. It does look inprobable though, & certainly puts the fear of God into the uninitiated. link
