Eggcellent timing

This idea popped into my head yesterday and this morning I set out to experiment and play with it. I was so excited how the smoke was acting around the egg I wanted to race back here and show you all the very first one I took :D Off I go!

I'm really pleased you all love this as much as I do, they were
really fun to make and brightened my whole day. If I had nobody
to show them to it wouldnt be half as fun or rewarding, so

I love where your imagination takes you Red.....and that you share it with us. These smoke pieces of art are visual poetry, sinuous, sensuous, exotic dances....makes me want to get out the veils... :~) Love to you and have a fabulous week-end.... x x x

Excellent - I too have been brainstorming on "props" to use in the "smoke stream". Looking forward to trying some new. Your shot is definitely inspiring.

Jeffrey, thank you! Havent seen you around for a while, it's nice to
      have you visit :)

Thank you Helen! I love your imagery!

Thank you brnorman, Robin, Dr Mac!

Baardman, thank you so much for that award! Its always so
flattering when someone does that. I have to unfortunately
decline. Its for a silly reason, but I've stopped posting images
to groups that require you to post a certain amount of comments
or awards in return. I've read Flickr staff comments mentioning that
images posted to groups that force you to reciprocate are looked
over for posting to Explore or removed shortly after.

I make as many comments on photos I like as I possibly can, being
forced to comment on the 2 before mine or whatever doesnt seem fair.
I noticed your group allows people to choose the images they comment
on, but they still require that 4 awards are given out in return. I'm not
sure if the group you belong to causes Explore to pull images, but I'm
not going to take my chances. The BigFave group and the MyWinners
group dont require you give awards, but they sure welcome it, that
      I can appreciate.

I am truly honored that you visited my images and loved them enough to
give me awards. That in itself is a wonderful gift of appreciation.
      Thank you!

    34. AzRedHeadedBrat (76 months ago | reply)

      Thank you everyone!

I like your smoke pics Steph! I never thought to use long
exposure, thinking everything would be cloudy, but you proved
      me wrong. Very nice job!

      Nash, here you go:
      -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Here is what i read when I first began taking my shots.
      www.photocritic.org/2007/artsmoke-photographi ng-smoke/
(at the bottom there's more links on technique from flickr
      members of the artsmoke community)

I suggest using the gradient tool in PS. to get a really good
rainbow effect with the colors. Drag it across the image and
voila :) Good luck with your experimenting!

Absolutely excellent flow visualization. You are the queen of Low Reynolds Numbers.

    36. nashguitargirl (76 months ago | reply)

azredheadedbrat: Thanks for that link :)

    37. AzRedHeadedBrat (76 months ago | reply)

I learned something new today Ethan :) Thanks!

**Laminar flow occurs at low Reynolds numbers (Re<2100), where viscous forces are dominant, and is characterized by smooth, constant fluid motion***

You're very welcome Nash. I cant wait to see how your experiments
      turned out!

I love it...it is reminescent of sheet music, and the dance of music. The curl on the left reminds me of a cello. Love it! :o)

    41. l84myflight (76 months ago | reply)

Wow. I was looking thru your past photos and came across these. Did you wave an egg just out of hot water in front of a dark background? How did you light it?

    42. AzRedHeadedBrat (76 months ago | reply)

      Thank you Enki :)

I84, this is one of my experiments with incense smoke. For this
particular shot I was using a black shelf from my stereo cabinet,
proping it up on another shelf by the front window. It was low enough
to give me a backdrop but still let sun stream down onto the incense
stick. Much easier to focus when you're not in the dark, which is how
most of the pros do it. With a tripod and some luck you should be
able to recreate this also. Luck really does have a lot to do with it...
some people call that good timing ;)
