Narnian Desert

Narnian Desert by AzRedHeadedBrat.
I'll be interested to hear how many inches fell on Tucson tonight.
Kids and I went to the park to play in it and so I could take pictures.
I wish I would have brought a tripod... but I did the best I could ;)

Wow. the light, the colors, the softness of the trees, the snowflakes (or are they water drops on the lens? or is it through a window? those look like reflecitions of the lamp up near the top)...its so wow.

Tripods are so cumbersome. A last resort along with handheld shots. I usually find a solid straight surface to steady one side of the cam against. At the same time wedging 1 or more fingers under diff sides of the cams egdes for whatever composition I like. Keeping cam steady at same time. Using fingers as a wedge between the cam and whatever surface it's placed against further steadys the shot when odd angles are needed for better composition. Trees, tables, lamp posts, benches, railings, walls, car roof, anything already at the scene usually works.

Thank you Suzi, very much. On the top right those are reflections from the lamppost, on the left there's water droplets on the lense. It was blowing really bad, could barely keep the camera dry.

Thank you coda and fridgeirrson :)

Hey Toby :) The only thing in the vacinity to rest the camera on were tree trunks. I tried to hold it as tightly against the tree as I could and not breathe while doing so lol Everything else was too low to the ground to use, so I did the best I could. It's too bad that it's no longer snowing outside... by morning it will only be a distant memory. Unfortunately they're only allowing people with chains who live up the mountain to drive there, but I hope to get up to Mt. Lemon at some point very soon so I can capture it before it melts.

Thank you Cafe!

Snow in the desert? If it was, it sure created some really beautiful photographs. In this one I am somewhat disoriented, but I like that in a photograph.

What an amazing shot! I love everything about this photo: the softness, the lighting, color, the quietness...everything. Makes me miss winter! Living in the tropics, this is something I don't get to see. Great job!

Hi Film, Doc and Charles! So glad this image pulled you in closer :)
Film, this is an image of a lightpost with trees surrounding it. Some
were pine, not sure what the others were. My camera was getting
drenched the entire time, I didnt stay long. I actually regret not warming
up and going back to another park. Who knows when it will snow like
that again here in the desert. It was truly magical.
