LIFE...
… is NOT cute!! But not in the world of macros, bokehs, landscapes, insects and
flowers filled Explore and Interestingness of Flickr!!!
I’m a people shooter and I find it so frustrating to see that great
shots of people being marginalized on Flickr!! Just randomly look at
top 10 on Interestingness for any calendar day! See my point?!
There are many heart wrenching, gut tugging, life encapsulating shots
that touch the soul buried amidst the 500,000 photos uploaded daily in
the Flickr jungle, unseen coz some stupid and skewed Flickr algorithm
deem that those shots to be uninteresting!!
Please, I implore you, go out there and embark on a journey of
discovery to find those people shooters. Visit their streams, fave and
leave comments that would encourage and put smiles on their faces as
you have done so often on my stream. Tell them you have seen their
streams and that their shots matter. Store those shots in the part of
us which make up our conscience which aid us to, for the lack of a
better word, follow our conscience.
LET THOSE SHOTS THAT ARE MEANT TO TOUCH LIVES TOUCH YOUR LIVES TOO…
I know I would end up offending many people and losing contacts in
process and for that I humbly apologize…

i know i am a little asshole, not commenting on evry picture of yours. but for now... i have to say.
that this is one of the most beautiful shots i have seen in ages. so powerfull so emotive. tender yet and with a loving-camera eye... i don't know how to describe how it touches me..

Spot on! Photography is about capturing something that grabs or moves you. Getting it right is all about causing the viewer to feel the same emotion.

I guess in larger cities it's easier to take such photos, here my friend tried to take a picture of people that gather old paper on streets and he almost got beaten...
sheesh, just now I realized he has only one leg =(
and I agree that portraits don't have as much atention as landscapes or animals on flickr, but I think it's pretty much because flickr has these "all times popular" photographers, and what they post is what will be displayed... I don't know, I might be wrong.

To me, Interestingness is a misnomer, doesn't really mean that. It means "what people like to see". I keep in mind that if I want to get into Explore I've got to play to the masses. But that's just me. You do what you're good at and you top Explore. Proof that not just purdy things get there. There's hope still, Mr Azli :)
