You've managed to capture a quite unique viewpoint Azli, you can see the worry in the ladies face.....where is the next meal coming from.....as the man strolls casually past, after finishing his lunch!

Oh my God, Azli, that is most expressive work, that I saw for the last time...but how sad is that reality and mostly painful is that with time apathy gets wider...:-(

How indeed, Azli.

For me, this has got me to question the nature of begging itself. As passers-by we only ever glimpse into their world, and perhaps sympathise, for the briefest of seconds before we forget and move towards our intended desitnation. Indeed, I wonder how long it will be before some people who view this image forget its significance as they refresh the next "interestingness" page. For street beggers the tragedy is that this sadness lasts a lot longer. The ultimate tragedy is the apathy in a world where individual demands are held in higher esteem than the collective needs, and that we even become hardened (lest cynical) to even the rawest of images of destitute and poverty.

And what answer can we offer. For me there are two contrasting opinions. On a collective and wide sweeping level, sadly I am inclined to agree more with Mattfiora. However, I further Dcrhssyr's point by saying that this photo can make the individual think about their own attitudes towards poverty, and question their own tolerance towards what they feel is acceptable. In this sense, perhaps we should think locally before we think globally.

My 2cents

Thank you Azli for such a thought provoking image.

It is not a coincidence that I posted today a composition named "Becouse we are different... we love the same way" regarding Valentine's day and you posted your "Indifference" image. Contrasts of the world. Some of us think that to be different is not an obstacle to share and love; some of "them" think to be different is a sign to be apart indifferent about others world, problems and needs. Poor of them... Your image as always make us think and you give us a reflexion about life. Thanx!!

That question has become rhetorical. Many people want to abstain from helping. Change begins within. As we cannont change people as much as we think we can. A person must want to change and it has to become a daily habit. Beautiful work Azli.
