I inherited my mother's sewing kit. Neither she nor I sew. AND: I'm pretty sure it was my grandmother's before us. AND: I'm pretty sure she didn't sew either.

"Okay. So, okay, so I been trying to find my father for like, for just about forever.
"Or at least since she, my mom, she got sick. Just curious, you know. Death and dying gets you thinking. About hereditarity and genealogy and the big meaningness of it all. What did I get from my father? What from my mother? My eyes are hers, but my boobs aren’t. She dug history and politics. I didn’t. I didn’t even know what I liked.
"So, I started taking computer classes. Not for the nerdiness factor but for, to -- to research. People. Find them. On the Internet and stuff. I thought I gotta gotta find my father. To find out about me. Or half of me. Or whatever part. You know." GEM, from Greater America

Great legacy. You should learn to sew something to tie togther the three generations...

If I learned to sew, wouldn't that separate me from them?

great story
....but some of these spools seem to have some thread unwound, indicating that someone used them for something
