I couldn't get a fix on the Vodafone 3G network... perhaps that is a sign that the set of users with Vodafone AND 3G AND GPS AND Google Maps is not very big, resulting in very little tracking data being sent back to Google's servers.

Google hopes its new "My Location" feature, which uses your mobile phone to show where you are on a map, will spell new advertising revenue as well as help navigators.
