Lost in translation - Snake Warning! Please don't walk here
hmm.... who are they kidding! The sign clearly says "The green grass is afraid of your feet" in Chinese.

    青青的草 怕您的脚
The blue grass fears your foot, as translated by Babelfish.

maybe "warning! snake!"? these awful foreigners won't understand that a green (qing may mean green and blue) grass may be afraid of anything, so we have to scare them....

kepje, I think u're right. If the snake warning works in keeping foreigners off the grass, then they have succeeded! :)

mangosteen queen, thanks for the Chinese to English tag...
      what is it for?

    13. mangosteen queen 58 months ago | reply

I've been going (slowly) through the photos in the Bad Translations pool and indicating for each photo which language is translated into which other language(s). When this process is finished you should be able to search the pool for translations by language. So, for instance, if you are interested in common mistakes in translations from Chinese to English, you could search within the pool for "Chinese to English." It could be helpful for language teachers.
