No.2A Brownie test (trunk)
Testing out an ancient (c. 1910?) No. 2A Brownie camera recently found at a thrift shop, huge negatives, orignially made for 116 film. The camera is pretty solid, just a metal box basically, and the light leak is from my own inept handling of the film post-exposure.

This turns out very well!
May I ask you for the format of the negative? It looks larger as 6x9 cm.

Thanks, hagee. Yes, the Kodak No. 2A Brownie originally took 116 film. 116 is a roll film introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1899 for 2½" × 4¼" inch negatives (nominally 6.5×11 cm), but discontinued the format in 1984. The film stock is 70mm wide: wider than that of 120 film, thus when you use 120 film in these cameras exposure goes all the way over the edge markings on the film. The negatives are huge....These cameras are great fun to use, and surprisingly cheap and plenty. I've got another 116 on the way,

a Conley KewpieNo. 2A Box camera.
Here's a link to some gentleman named Greyhound and his instructions on shooting 120 film in 116 cameras. He got a little more specialist than I did...I just put some foam in the 120 end (to take up the space), threaded it over to the 116 spool, blacktaped the window, and gave each frame 2 1/2 turns of the wind-on knob.

6,5x11cm, this is a superpanorama format!
In my place (Munich, germany) 116 film was never sold, and so this format is very unusal over here.
Very well done, your picture!

Thanks hagee, you should look around and pick one of these old boxes up, I think you would enjoy the panoramic possibilities.

Amazing. Like hagee I wasn't aware of 116 format. Lovely tones and nice composition!

I've never shot anything in this format.
The closest I ever get to odd film sizes is the occasional roll of Efke/Adox 127, for my little 1/2 frame Balda folder.
I'm gonna get one of these now.
Brilliant info.
And a lovely shot.
