White Sands National Monument, New Mexico

White Sands National Monument, New Mexico by augen.
The sand is actually fine particles of gypsum--the same material that's in drywall--rather than the tan quartz beach sand. The mountains to the west of the area contain a layer of gypsum that has been eroded to form the otherworldly white dunes.
