Guitar Picks
Handmade guitar picks. Most are made from old plastic cards (gift
cards, credit cards, hotel room keys, etc.) Other materials are
cardboard, "Handi Snacks" stick, CD, Toshiba laptop, and
plastic packaging.
I trace a store bought pick with an ultra fine sharpie, cut them out
with scissors (for plastic), and sand the edges with an emery board.
The metal ones are more complicated.

These are so cool. After you cut them out, do you sand the edges?

@ TElliott2 - Yes, I sand the edges. I've updated the caption info with the basics of my process.

I gave this a try... It's pretty fun, and what I made entertains me greatly... Took an old HANCOCKfabrics card... Not hard to guess what I did with that.

You can use a jeweler's saw(piercing saw, or coping saw to cut out cd picks. Who doesn't burn a coater once in awhile?
Uberninja (47 months ago | reply)
Cool! i'll have to try that sometime. My brother keeps on losing my guitar picks.

You've got nice picks up there! Tried to make some for my own use before out of phone cards. Didn't last long, perhaps its with the quality of the plastic and not with the way I used it. Anyway, keep it up!

that is so neat i love it. I am a crafter myself. and that is just a great idea. My daughter and a lot of my family play the guitar. You really should be on etsy if your not. and i would suggest to you that you get a die or some kind of way to just punch them out. But, honestly part of the charm is how much work you put into it. It still would be home made if you had a die of some sort to punch them out with. That is so creative, did you come up with this on your own? I would buy one if i where able to. and the photo is really good too. I typed in guitar and that was this was the photo that stood out to me.Well Done!
