Watchmen billboard

Illegal Watchmen building graphic at the westbound Robertson Blvd. off-ramp of the Santa Monica Freeway.

    UPDATE:
For questions about why I mentioned that this ad was illegal, please read the following: banbillboardblight.org/?p=1310

...or for further info billboard blight in L.A., see the links in my comments below.

For what it's worth I'm a fan of "The Watchmen" and am eagerly anticipating the movie, but the explosion of billboards and this kind of super-graphics advertising in L.A. is making this town ugly. Rorschach would not approve.

      Why illegal? No sign permit?

L.A. has a big problem with illegal billboards, all built by huge advertising corporations, not by drug dealers, pick-pockets and carjackers.

Most recently it's been exacerbated by the annoying digital billboards and these super-graphics that are taking over every building in town.

I have no problem with The Watchmen, I'm looking forward to the movie, but all of this advertising is a blight on the city. You can read more here if you're so inspired:
