Harris Tweed Scarf
![]() Harris Tweed Scarf - for my grandfather, Christmas 2006. It's my own pattern, if you can call it that. (It's really just a stitch pattern from a vintage knitting stitch dictionary.)
I used Caron Simply Soft, two strands held together, and #10 1/2 needles. A note about the yarn requirements: I basically used 1/2 to maybe 2/3 of each of 2 (3oz) skeins of Simply Soft. That was for a 4-foot scarf. You could easily make the scarf a foot longer - maybe even 2 feet longer - without having to buy more yarn than that. The 3oz solid skeins are 165 yards. CO 26. Rows 1 & 2: K1, (K2, P2) to last stitch, K1. Row 3: K Row 4: K1, P to last stitch, K1. Rows 5 & 6: K1, (K2, P2) to last stitch, K1. Row 7: K1, P to last stitch, K1. Row 8: K Repeat that 8-row sequence to desired length, ending on either Row 2 or 6. Bind off in K2,P2 rib. Commentstwominions
