At one time, this was new, with laughing,
playing children and hopeful teachers. I'm
sure that whoever attended it has fond
memories of it...

Thanks all for the visits and the faves.
This must have been a sturdily constructed
building to still remain standing; I suspect
that those who attended are now in their
advanced years and their fond memories are
accompanied by sadness at the decline of this
building.

Kim--thanks; the most recent story is the
migration from rural areas to the cities
resulting in fewer school-age children and
fewer schools.

Scott and a.a--thanks for visiting and for
your comments. I think the rear wall of the
building is mostly fallen in, so it's not an
optical illusion.

Wow... Great picture. I live not too far
from Bradford, IL. Do you know if the school
house is still standing today? If so, do you
have some more specifics on its location?

Natcarm--I took this photo a couple of years
ago; I don't know if the building is still
standing. I saw the building as I was coming
into Bradford from Kewanee, so it would have
been west of town on Route 93.

I love photos of abandoned buildings like this - they look amazing, if a little sad.
