World renowned Greek film director Theo Angelopoulos was killed in a traffic accident, involving an off-duty police officer on a motorcycle, while shooting his last film about the impact of the crisis on location in Drapetsona last week. Angelopoulos loved Thessaloniki, had served as president of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (1997-2004) and an award was post-humously named after him.
