The old world will burn in the fires of industry ...

The forests will fall. A new order will rise. We will drive the machinery of war with the sword and the spear and the iron fist of the Orc. (J.R.R. Tolkien).

Everytime I witness that some of our precious nature is being sacrificed on the altar of industry and greed I think of these words of Saruman of Isengard. This site though isn't so bad. It's the powerstation in Svartsengi, which is used to produce electricity, hot water and it's very famous side product, the blue water used for the Blue lagoon. But there are plans to sacrifice more precious sites in the future and I'm really sceptical.

I took this image on my way home from work yesterday in Svartsengi (Black meadows). As the rain was pouring so heavyly I had to take the image from the drivers seat of my car. "Driver's seat photography" could become a niche within photography. I've taken one other image from my driver's seat before (When my ship comes in ...).

The image is a single 1/160s exposure at f5.6 +1EV in RAW. I used the Canon EF55-200 f/4.5-5.6 USM lens at 60 mm. I used the default settings in ACR. In photoshop: adjusted contrast, colors, dodge and burn.

Oh my... Instant fav again. I love this smoke and fog (beginning ?) series. The atmosphere you created though P-P is amazing, surreal. I'd be curious to see the original, because I suspect you put in a lot of creativity and skills during P-P - it's not just a nice capture, right? :)

ps: I like the quote, too. It really fits the image!
