Newsweek sells entire magazine for one dollar!
Newsweek sold itself for one dollar, which I imagine had to be on the high side of estimates. Just to put that in perspective, the website Lycos once sold for $13 billion dollars. Where did it all go wrong with Newsweek? Was it their editor equating Barack Obama to God?
You have to give them some credit though. The magazine famously declared that “We’re all socialists now” which they apparently truly believed. First, they avoided profit like the plague, they went into crushing debt, and now they’re giving their company away! It’s all about principles and values, folks.
In fact, the only way they could have been more socialist is if they turned their media company over directly to the government. Oh wait! They sorta did! The magazine was purchased by the husband of Democratic representative Jane Harman (D-CA). Luckily, even if the magazine was written by the DNC itself, it would probably have to shift to the right from where it is now.
The upside is that the family of a democratic congressperson really is the correct choice to run an organization drowning in debt created by long term incompetence and serious leftward leanings. Good business tip–do what you know!
By the way, in this tough media environment, compounded by four separate boycotts being waged against Glenn by advisors to the president, 2010 is shaping up to be the best year ever at the Glenn Beck Program. If so, it will beat 2009 which was his previous record, which beat 2008 which was his previous record before that, which beat 2007 which was his previous record before that..and so on.
