Light (28:365)

Light (28:365)

Saturday.

Recovering from the busy day and late Friday night. And too much drinking with a friend.

I was sitting on my sofa and realized I hadn't moved in several hours and noticed the pretty, warm light on the door.

I'm glad my photo of the day presented itself this easily.....and that I had my camera right next to me. I didn't have the strength or will to leave the sofa.

I spent an entire day hanging out and wandering around at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday. Wow. Where do I start?

First, I had a blast and enjoyed ever minute of the experience. I love movies, I love people watching and love roaming around Park City so it was a win win win.

Second: I honestly had no idea how large this festival is. I was surprised at the crowds, the storefronts that had been replaced by Sundance-related venues, the over-whelming feeling of being someplace that the rest of the world was watching and interested in.

Let's skip the third. Instead, lets go back to the people watching. Oh my God. Watching what the folks who live elsewhere *think* that we wear in Utah is hilarious. And, oh...the boots! Some covered in what can only be described as "Chewbaca fur" were everywhere. And sparkly, be-dazzled cowboy boots! There were quite a few expensive pairs of those trodding along Main Street. Lots of black, too. Black coats, hats, pants, boots, handbags and sunglasses. I saw several tiny women carrying very large black Chanel handbags. I can't figure out how those little bitty arms could carry such a heavy load.

I saw one dude wearing his jammies around town. I watched a foursome of older gentlemen in cowboy hats stroll along. I saw a woman with the worst face-lift EVER. She looked like she just got of a chairlift that had travelled at warp speed. Ocassionally I'd see a PC local wearing ski gear and carrying their boards and skis. I always enjoy seeing them: it reminds me of how awesome it is living here, but really provides awesome contrast when those folks share the same sidewalk as a Hollywood-type wearing enormous sunglasses, sky-high heels and a fur coat. As a photographer, I appreciate good contrast.

Of course, the folks flock to the festival for the movies. I saw only one but enjoyed it and was darn happy to get to see it! Listening to folks discuss the movies they had seen and planned to see was fun, too. Everyone became a movie critic and offered their opinions freely.

What fun, what fun. And I'm already looking forward to next year.

Photo note: The fur hat girl here is being interviewed by the Sundance Channel. I saw this sort of thing a lot. Whenever a video camera appeared, curious on-lookers amassed around. I was one of them.
