They Come out Best on Kodak Film

They Come out Best on Kodak Film

A local piece of street furniture, ironically shot with Fuji Velvia. And a Yashica Mat. From Japan, land of the camera.

Also a good example of the new science of digital colour restoration; the original slide is very blue, because it was shot in the shade. But with the magic of computerisation I don't have to fiddle around with warming filters. I can just click the mouse a bit and, voila.

Fuji Velvia 50

Fuji Velvia 50

I ran some Fuji Velvia through my Yashica Mat, et voila. Purple skies, bags of contrast. Instant album cover!

I'm not sure I like it that much, though. The look is a bit of a cliché. It puts me in mind of the kind of calendars you buy in a pound shop. Ektachrome is more sober, a bit more to my taste.

Wonder in Aliceland II

Wonder in Aliceland II

More of Alice Willow, shot with a Yashica Mat 124G using Kodak Ektachrome. And a new font - Didot instead of Futura light.

Wonder in Aliceland IV

Wonder in Aliceland IV

More of Alice Willow, shot with a Yashica Mat 124G using Kodak Ektachrome. Tiny bit of fill-flash. Probably at f/4 (it was easier to work out the exposure that way).

I have a lens hood for the Mat. Didn't use it though.

The Treaty

The Treaty

More Ektachrome, from 2009. In this scene the pigeons have demanded that man's ambassador meet them at the site of their original defeat, with some food.
