Owl!

Owl!

This morning I found this big owl sitting on top of this weird sculpture near the old GSB at Stanford. A billion people were biking by but none of them seemed to see it. I got to watch the owl turn his head all the way around and look behind him/her, which was pretty cool. But what was this owl doing hanging out at 9:30am?

Some Googling tells me that this piece is called "Chicago Triangles," by Charles Ginnever.

UPDATE: My sister points out that some (or all?) hawks can rotate their heads like owls do, and she argues that this is probably a hawk.

Flowering Trees on Feb. 9

The trees on my street are flowering! Also I took this at about 5:00 pm. Not too long ago it was already dark then.

Errant Cocoa Puffs

Errant Cocoa Puffs

A little while ago, someone (who will remain anonymous here) spilled a box of Cocoa Puffs in my room. I cleaned them up pronto, but today while vacuuming I came across these two little guys hiding under my bureau. Thankfully they do not seem to have attracted any vermin!
