Flickr Gift #8: Polaroid SX-70, from Mad Jeff

Proper manual focus is linked to the viewfinder.
Electric eye and lighten/darken control.
This was taken on the long discontinued TZ film. I'll be using integral 600 and a neutral density gel over the lens.
There's a prism in here, as this is an SLR.

[Explored. Shot up to #46. Thanks for looking.]

Last week, mad jeff asked for my address as he said he wanted to post me something. I thought he was going to send me a postcard, so imagine my surprise when a postman with a huge jiffy bag turned up on my doorstep early on Saturday morning and I found this inside!
I'm overwhelmed by Jeff's generosity. I was chasing SX-70s on fleabay for ages, but I have a strict rule of never spending more than a tenner as I'm so poor, so I never landed one.
Now I've got one and I love it so much I'm almost too scared to use it!
(I will put some film in it, but I doubt I'll capture anything as lovely as the Time Zero picture Jeff included).

I have the greatest flickr friends ever. :)
Please visit Jeff's stream and leave him some nice comments!

Replete with the original box, the amazing folding design of the camera is revealed.

Fortunately the instructions were also sent, as I thought I was going to break the camera trying to open it up.

Wow! Lucky you! The most amazing camera ever. Great 70's design.
Why aren't more cameras covered with tan leather?

it looks tidy when it's all shut up. although it kind of reminds me of the interior of a Rover 216 my grandad had. I like Jeff's polaroid.

Wow! The people on flickr are fantastic aren't they. I too have received unexpected gifts of film, cameras, unconditional loans of cameras, people spending their time showing me how to redscale, how to home develop.....it just goes on....

I love my sx-70 - like you I spent ages on fleabay waiting for a good deal on one last year and eventually that patience paid off. The film costs a small fortune, but it is worth it and at Christmas I was gifted some time zero film which I'm still too scared to use! I'm sure you'll have frustration and fun with yours in equal measure, it's time really well spent....

I have the same camera... it was given to me 10 years ago from my mom's co-worker... I was so excited when I got it but the first chance I got to use it, it didn't work... I was thinking about getting it fixed but the price quote I got was way too expensive so I've never been able to use mine :(

Hyaground I've played around with the focus, but I won't be putting any film in it until I've finished shooting with the three other Polaroids I already have on the go.
